Turning Point! - Penultimate step

Today I continued with the editing and got feedback from Nicola on how our last part of the documentary (the phonecall interview) would work better. Our phonecall interview, ofcource, only consisted of audio footage and we needed to add visual layers to appeal to our audience and make it more interesting.

Originally, I thought having pictures in a linear sequence, with direct relevance to what Curtis was saying in the interview would lead me to create something magical that would gain sympathy from our audience, however, it was too literal and personal, making it feel as if i "just stuck on a list of google images related to prison" (quote from Mr Dyas) thus limiting the creativity and effect.

Also, it did not link or express the rest of our documentary well and narrowed the expositional side of the doc to Curtis's perspective rather than of the families.

Knowing this we agreed to try juxtaposing both the personal message that Curtis conveys in his dialogue with visuals of news headlines of prisons/youth crimes etc, so that it makes a synergistic effect that feeds into our audience allowing them to think beyond the experiences of those within our documentary and relate the effects it has on larger matters such as other families let alone one person's view.
