Screening feedback

Before the Christmas break we had a first viewing of our documentary. From this we received feedback from our media group which has helped us to recognise the aspects of our documentary that are a credit to us and parts which could possibly need altering to make it better.

Here are some of the common feedback comments we received:

Positive Points
  • Members of the audience felt emotionally involved. This was a something we had intended from the initial idea of the documentary.
  • The message was effective,
  • Liked the fact we were not afraid to use Close Ups.
  • The framing  and camera angles were creative and included loads of colour which was interesting to view.
  • The documentary as a whole got the audience to think and use their imagination, especially with the phone conversation.
  • The three different perspectives of family members was a good idea because it gave a rounded view of the family.
Things to consider
  • Maybe use name tags because a question of where is the person on the phone leaves the audience a bit confused.
  • The voice over was a bit low
  • the cut away to the ornaments between the Grandparent interview could be longer.
  • The fade in and out of the subtitles could just take on the conventional transition of subtitles and cut in & out not fade.
