What about the Family?

What is our unique selling point?

Our aim is to show different perspectives of families who have had their relatives or friends tried or imprisoned and show the effects it can cause to the family. We will cover the possible help that is provided by either government sectors or private organisations.

What type of documentary would it be?

Our documentary will be expository but as a larger whole it will be a docusoap, as it will reveal various in different emotional situations; for example war and drugs & alcohol.

Is it viable? Prove it!

As a group we have come back with supplementary links to interview and have located some archival footage that will support our documentary. We each have also made contact with our links to ensure they will be avaliable at the times needed. The locations we want to use will be the family home and on the street. We have chosen the family home to be a main setting as it is a place of comfort for our interviewee.

What further research do we need?

We have researched online about what websites there are that families have access to if they want supportive advise. These websites include y.j.s (youth justice system) and http://www.hmprisonservice.gov.uk/. They tell us what they do and where they are located. We will also locate some archival footage and facts that will support our documentary; for example statistic about how many youths there are in prison.

Who is our target audience?

We are targeting youths but mainly young males as there is a high percentage of males getting in trouble with the law and getting involved in gangs.

Why would C4 etc commision this documentary?

This documentary, is original and has a wider audience appeal where the audience can have an active response but understand our message. Emotinally it will win hearts. The documentary will be a message to youths about not getting in to trouble with the law and gangs but from a different angle, as family is the most important thing to people.
